Wait! Don’t leave us yet, your cart is waiting!

Sounds familiar? It definitely should, as this kind of a message seems vital for running the purchase processes in online environments with desired effects. As it turns out, proper advertising leading clients to engaging with products is not necessarily enough for making profit. Research from Baymard Institute shows that 69.82% of online shopping carts are eventually given up. What would you say if ModulesGarden had a reality-based way to reduce this alarming 7:10 ratio?

But let’s go back to basics for a bit – what are we actually dealing with when speaking of cart abandonment? It is a term used to describe situations in which buyers leave behind incomplete purchases on e-commerce platforms. The first points of relevant data were collected around 2002, when electronic commerce was still in its infancy. Even so, the problem was already notable, so apart from sending emails to clients in order to assess their shopping experiences, companies started to dispatch automated messages to the ones who decided not to carry on with the checkout.

Your business, regardless of the industry, can greatly benefit from winning back the attention of those who are still on the fence, not only by reminding them about the viewed items, but also by showing you exactly why the hesitance has occurred. Below, you can take a look at the most common reasons behind buyers’ withdrawal.

Just by implementing the right checkout optimization to your WHMCS platform, your client conversion rate can spring back up to 35.62%, as mentioned in Baymard Institute’s research findings, which is exactly what our newest module – Abandoned Cart For WHMCS was developed for.

The functions of our latest module will help you increase this percentage by sending email reminders to your clients who have left their shopping carts full, without completing the order.

It will also provide you with valuable statistics on all shopping statuses – ordered or not. It is possible to collect this data within selected time periods, starting from one month up to one year! Learning more about your customers will help you to meet their expectations even more precisely. If you want to make sure that the notifications actually make a difference, select the option of multiple reminders, which will subtly, yet effectively revert shopper’s attention to your products.

Our module is highly customizable, so you can easily specify which items you want to remind about, change the time of sending the notifications, address logged in and guest clients separately, or even use custom templates for your messages. Worried that reaching out to your customers will be difficult due to lack of contact details? We’ve got this! With our module, you can configure general settings to require an email address or login in order to proceed.

Remember, an abandoned shopping cart is not a lost opportunity, but a chance to engage with your customers. Take proper care of your revenue, and put our module to the test right now!

Multiply your orders!

You must have already noticed that our marketplace has recently welcomed a brand new member, thereby growing the family of WHMCS modules even further. What idea did we manage to craft into a practical piece of software this time, you may be wondering? Well, it surely has come to your attention that email messages your system sends on a daily basis to your clients may tend to pile up pretty fast in their mailboxes, hasn’t it? The new Email Notifications Organizer For WHMCS ensures that all crucial information gets delivered in bulk!

Whenever your client has a domain that is close to its expiration, or an unpaid invoice whose due date slowly but steadily approaches, the WHMCS system will send them an email with all details. This leads to an overwhelmed inbox faster than imaginable, especially in the case of your best customers! Email Notifications Organizer For WHMCS comes to the rescue though, equipping you with the tools you need to create consolidated messages, that will depict multiple expiring domains or due invoices. It is entirely up to you how often they get sent and what email template is used.

Furthermore, you will never again lose track of the emails that got sent – simply view summaries of blocked and delivered notifications going as far as a year back!

This cleverly thought out piece of software brings significant benefits to both your clientele and yourself. Firstly, the fewer emails you send out, the more noticeably you optimize the usage of your server resources, what translates to more money saved, as well as less space and databases occupied on your side. Do you know how much carbon dioxide a single email message is? As much as 4g! Our module is an ideal solution that will greatly reduce the carbon footprint of your business, benefiting the entire environment as a direct result.

The ideal way to get the brilliance Email Notifications Organizer For WHMCS delivers, is to personally discover its every feature. Don’t wait any longer and start seeing practical advantages from day one!

Start your journey!

On a scale of 1 to 10, how much has the game changed for you as a result of cPanel’s decision to drop the pay-per-server model? Actually, you don’t have to answer, because we asked you exactly the same question back in October 2020 via a short survey that gave us far more food for thought than we originally imagined, and laid the groundwork for a brand-new product that, at present, helps dozens of web hosters successfully deal with the new reality. Today, after almost three years from this historic transition, we are taking a closer look at how cPanel users are doing, and how our Inactive Account Manager For cPanel module managed to ensure that there’s nothing but smooth sailing ahead of them.

The Before

cPanel was founded in 1997 and has continued to make a name for itself on the web hosting scene ever since, as a collection of gear compiled especially with shared and reseller hosting in mind. To maintain the number-one ranking among control panels, a completely new approach was undertaken when cPanel was acquired by a group led by Oakley Capital, the same that taken over Plesk and SolusVM.

As a result, after years of serving the global community on a per-server pricing basis, cPanel broke the news about an important change in both pricing and licensing structure to its partners, store customers and distributors.

The After

Upon announcing the licensing shake-up in June 2019, hosting unlimited cPanel accounts on a single server has effectively ceased to be an option. From that point on, you are required to obtain a license according to the number of accounts and plans you have added on your server. The annual model of billing had also got to go due to each license being automatically converted to monthly as soon as it faced renewal. Observing the course of evolution in the web hosting industry, it’s an easy guess that pricing updates are here to stay, and there’s no other way but to get your business ready for them.

But is this really that sudden and unexpected? After all, technology is advancing by leaps and bounds these days, and it’s not that hard to imagine what the effect of this will be in the long run. Adapting to ever-new trends may often prove costly, not only for customers but companies as well, especially when one is still forced to deal with pandemic-induced consequences of one sort or another. Changes in price are often the only path for a business to keep up with the quality and technological standards of the world market, not to mention grow the product with extra potential that would otherwise never be accessible.

The Remedy

Although many users initially looked around for an exit door, time has shown that quality always wins as most of them ultimately decided to stick with the tried-and-trusted solution they are so well accustomed to. Thanks to our anonymous survey, we have gained a way more intimate view into what these businesses have been going through.

This valuable input also helped us devise a tool focused in every detail on reducing your running cPanel costs.

Inactive Account Manager For cPanel will revolutionize your habitual patterns of managing web hosting services by unlocking easy access to all key data on each detected account, and more importantly, allowing its suspension or termination to be carried out either manually in bulk or in a fully automated manner.

As a practical bonus, to always keep your clients up to speed, you will get to compose custom email notifications to be sent whenever any change in the status of the service occurs.

Well, now there’s only one question left to ask: are you ready to give your web hosting venture an instant financial lift?

Turn on the saving mode!

Recommends ModulesGarden" width="600" height="300" />

ModulesGarden: Why did you choose ModulesGarden?

Zonat S.A.: We use ModulesGarden because using existing and tested tools makes life much easier for us. Instead of spending time planning and developing digital tools, we simply use one of yours – especially since you offer a 7-day free trial!

ModulesGarden: Which of our products would you say have helped you the most in your business?

Zonat S.A.: We regularly acquire other hosting businesses using WHMCS, so we like using Multibrand For WHMCS from ModulesGarden. It works like a charm and makes it easy for use to integrate different brands under one umbrella. Our sales team also loves the CRM For WHMCS from ModulesGarden because it makes following up with leads and potentials very easy. In the past, we used to use other CRM systems, but the direct integration in WHMCS is definitely an advantage.

ModulesGarden: Multibrand For WHMCS is our flagship product for companies that oversee lots of different brands. How exactly do you use it to grow your business?

Zonat S.A.: We use Multibrand to group all our websites like http://luxhosting.lu or http://www.hosting.co.uk so we can manage them all from one platform. WHMCS has been a gamechanger for the hosting industry, but when we first started using it, we didn’t have Multibrand. That meant we had to have separate domains for payment, and it was more difficult to build custom products for each brand. Now that we have Multibrand, we can have a similar domain for payment for all our brands, and we can easily create custom products. This speeds up the innovation process, and it’s been a huge relief to be able to quickly bring more of our ideas to life.

ModulesGarden: Does Multibrand For WHMCS help with your customer support process?

Zonat S.A.: Multibrand has streamlined our customer support system, and it’s a huge part of the reason we’ve been able to keep our clients so happy. If you’re in charge of multiple brands, you know how difficult it can be to keep track of everything you’re doing for each brand, and when you add customers to the mix, things can get downright unwieldy. But because we use Multibrand, our customer support ticketing system is completely centralised. All the messages come in under one dashboard, and we can clearly see which brand the customer is contacting us from. This makes things a lot easier, because none of our customers get left behind, and we can quickly address issues before they end up snowballing and costing us our reputation.

ModulesGarden: And how has Mulitbrand For WHMCS helped with your emailing process?

Zonat S.A.: We actually use Multibrand’s emailing features almost daily. Zonat S.A. is constantly acquiring new brands, and it’s really important to us that we don’t lose productivity and efficiency as we get bigger. The Multibrand feature from ModulesGarden makes it really easy to send emails from multiple brands. We love that when we’re sending an email, there’s actually a field called “Brands” that brings up all our brands when we click on it. That way, we can send a mass email from all our brands at the same time. This feature saves so much time, because without it, we’d be forced to send emails from one brand at a time, or we’d need several licenses for all our brands.

ModulesGarden: Earlier in our conversation, you said you also love using our CRM For WHMCS tool. What’s your favorite thing about it?

Zonat S.A.: We love how much control we have over it. It’s so flexible and easy to tailor to our needs. Your company updates the tool constantly, and every change that’s made to it always makes sense. The change log makes it easy to keep track of all the changes, as well. And because it’s open source, if we notice that there’s some feature from which our team would benefit, we can mention it in the forum, and your team will get right on it. Or if we’re so inclined, we can even have our development team work on something and then share it with you. Making your CRM open source was truly an inspired move, and it makes it so much easier to innovate.

ModulesGarden: In general, what’s been your experience working with ModulesGarden?

Zonat S.A.: At Zonat, we’re big on innovation and growth. We’re in tech, so we can’t afford to stay in the same place, or we’ll quickly get left behind by newer, hungrier companies. So, we really appreciate working with a company that values innovation and progress as well. It’s easy to work with you because our values are so well aligned. At ModulesGarden, you’re constantly creating new software for billing and management. And you have such a large offering of products that whenever we want software with a special feature that will make our business run more smoothly, we always check ModulesGarden first, because chances are, you’ve already developed it. And your team responds really quickly to requests, so on the off chance that we want something you haven’t gotten around to creating yet, all we have to do is ask. And having that kind of safety net helps our company feel more confident as we soar to higher heights.

ModulesGarden: Thanks for meeting with us.
Zonat S.A.: Always a pleasure.

And there you have it!

Zonat S.A. is a fast-growing, innovative company that manages multiple brands with the help of the modules we create here at ModulesGarden, hand in hand with EasyDCIM’s data center management panel and MetricsCube’s advanced reporting tool. Think of how much time your company could save using such a productivity boosting equipment! Don’t waste time making new software from scratch if you can check out our products first. You might be surprised to find that we’ve already created the perfect piece of software to take your company to the next level!

My professional life has revolved around the web hosting industry for nearly 10 years, focusing primarily on billing system integrations like WHMCS. With ModulesGarden, we’ve provided development services for over thousands of projects, created hundreds of official modules for WHMCS, and have had the pleasure of working with small to corporate-level customers in nearly every country across the globe. Much to my pride, this wealth of direct experience has been recently brought into a completely new game-changing project.

Two weeks ago, together with my INBS.Software team we released MetricsCube – a data analytics tool providing a completely new approach for web hosting companies to help them keep better track of their venture. Starting with comprehensive WHMCS integration, our mission is to deliver a new level of reporting and monitoring tool in sync with the most widely respected web applications. A must-have solution for anyone who strives to grow their company and need extra supplies of data to make significant business decisions.

It is super easy to access at a glance your most important reports!

Why did I decide to create MetricsCube?

I have been using WHMCS on a few businesses myself, but throughout my entire professional journey, I was never able to get quick access to the important metrics and have a clear vision of what is currently happening. Things tend to get more and more complicated when your business is growing, and you can easily lose track of what is actually going on. As a business owner you want to focus on crucial operations, and finding spare time to build a complex reporting tool is always a tough task. You’d rather spend this time on something else, wouldn’t you?

In the meantime, we had lots of inquiries from our clients who shared the same burning need for a more advanced data analysis tool. The default WHMCS reporting is good for starters, but eventually becomes a pain for any subscription business because of the lack of more complex reports like MRR, LTV or Churn.

Having that in mind, we’ve decided to develop a SaaS platform that will serve both us and our clients at once!

What makes MetricsCube so valuable for web hosting companies?

Similar solutions like Chartmogul or Baremetrics offer very poor or no connection with WHMCS whatsoever. They often don’t provide well crafted integration with any of the popular web applications at all. Our unique approach lies in having strong, dedicated integration with different systems, starting with WHMCS. Given our 10-year experience in the web hosting industry, we are determined to expand this list through building integrations with cPanel and Plesk – driven by the goal not to limit our reports to just financial data analysis.

We know what reports are the most valuable for web hosting companies and we aim to deliver them!

MetricsCube includes more reports directed towards a web hosting company than any other solution on the market!

Is MetricsCube useful for a small company?

Absolutely! This might be one of the biggest mistakes that small businesses make – they assume that because they are not a huge enterprise yet, those complex, and often intimidating reports don’t really matter. Wrong! Small companies are expected to grow more than any other businesses. And if you want to thrive, you need to know what’s going on!

In terms of pricing, we have tried to make the model as much flexible as possible. If you feel that $24.95 per month amounts to overkill, and your business is just starting up, do not hesitate to drop us an email at contact@metricscube.io. At one time we too were in the “start-up” phase, and we know very well how important it is to keep the costs low in the outset. We want to help small companies to evolve and succeed!

What if you’re not that much into numbers?

We are aware that many reports are not entirely clear to everyone. Considering that the data analysis itself is not quite popular in the web hosting industry, especially among the small companies, we want to educate! My goal is to prepare a series of Blog articles explaining the most valuable metrics for any subscription business.
What is our next move?

The official launch is merely the first on the long list of milestones we want to reach in the next couple of months. Before we move on to integration with other systems, however, we focus on further extending the connection with WHMCS:

At least 70 built-in reports for WHMCS – We plan to introduce around 5 new reports every few weeks.

Multibrand functionality – Having more than one system? No problem, you can monitor all your brands under a single account.

Subaccounts – You can invite your employees and choose what reports or brands they have access to.

Extra comparing tool – With Multibrand support, you will be able to easily compare data from all your businesses.

Expenses tracking – YES, the system will let you define expenses as well as calculate NET revenues and extra reports to monitor your spendings!

… and lots more:

Two-factor authentication

PDF export

Forecasting

Trendlines

Favourite reports

Custom dashboards

Goals

Comments on graphs

Not only as a founder, but mostly as an active enjoyer of MetricsCube, I send out an open invitation to give this very practical tool a try. Make a lightning-fast analysis of your business and discover its strengths you never knew even existed!

The multifaceted business of reselling virtual servers is nowadays ruled by the insatiable demand for service optimization. Providers worldwide vie with each other, seeking ever different ways of supplying VMs innovatively, in a manner allowing them to extend the lead on the market. And the minute you think there is nothing else that could be possibly done to bolster your offer… software technology surprises you with a whole new scope for ingenuity.

We live in the era dominated by the customer-centric culture where the overriding aim is to build lasting relationships with consumers. Developing such a close bond in the reselling business falls greatly beyond the bare product delivery. You need to demonstrate strong commitment to your clientele, from securing the maximum comfort at the early stages of product consideration, to giving them a clear sense of being in control of their machines once the order is complete. But how on earth could you even come close to this level of dedication while having tens, or even hundreds, of customers, and only 24 hours in a day?

The answer is: DigitalOcean Droplets For WHMCS.

First, a word of prelude: DigitalOcean holds a privileged position among the absolute top cloud infrastructure providers, as one of the first to start the actual cloud revolution in hosting, plus the second largest hosting provider in the world. Sounds impressive, doesn’t it? With their affordable pricing models and straightforward server deployment approach, DigitalOcean continues to pop up on more and more people’s radars, facing what may seem a never-ending rise in stature across the globe. And hey, they use their own name for virtual machines, and it is the most darling one ever – Droplets. Surely that should count for something!?

DigitalOcean Droplets For WHMCS fits perfectly into this doggedly pursued goal of service optimization, as the module brings both the reselling and complex management of scalable virtual servers under one roof – your WHMCS system. You steer all the provisioning and supervisory tasks without leaving your admin area, while the client area spoils your customers for choice of the means for handling their machines in a fully remote manner. They will be allowed to carry out all focal operations on their Droplets including powering them on and off, rebooting, rebuilding, or even restoring them whenever required through the previously created snapshots or automatic backups. Do you need any more arguments?

If the above insights did not fully convince you to tap into the innovative flair of DigitalOcean Droplets For WHMCS, a 25% welcome discount should definitely act as an extra incentive to do so. Hurry up, pick up the module before the end of 10th July and embrace the future of business optimization!

Web hosting companies sell most of their services in the recurring billing model. Monitoring of such a business requires specialized metrics focused on tracing the growth in multiple dimensions. Lots of companies are not even aware of many measures crucial for analysis of a subscription business model, mostly because their billing systems, e.g. WHMCS, don’t offer these sorts of built-in reports. Therefore, I’ve decided to bring up the most important billing reports for web hosting companies that are worth noticing.

First of all, you have to realize that monitoring of your regular income on a month-to-month basis will not give you a full picture.

Taking this into account, if you want your web hosting company to grow and succeed, you need to:

Increase your MRR – it does not always mean immediate growth of the NET income!

Increase the value of your users – in both the short and long run,

Reduce churn – not only the revenue churn, but also the subscription and customer churn.

In order to make proper decisions about the above factors, you need to keep track of multiple metrics. It is also extremely important to compare the results in custom time intervals (e.g. quarter to quarter), as well as be able to filter them by products or customer groups. Below you will find the key measures, which, in my opinion, you should trace on a daily basis.

Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR)

MRR is a report that indicates how much money you can expect from your active subscriptions. Typically, if your client base increases, or the value of an individual customer does, the MRR metric strongly and steadily grows. However, generating new sales is not the only method to increase MRR. Acquiring new clients is thought to be more expensive than maintaining the existing ones, so you may consider increasing the income of your current customers instead!

An example of a steady and stable growth of MRR. The higher it is, the better condition of a company and the higher its value.

Average Revenue Per User (ARPU)

ARPU defines how much revenue you get from one active client on average. Customers having only free trial, one-time or free products do not impact ARPU, so it’s related to the subscription model only. Usually, ARPU increases if your clients buy new services or make upgrades. Furthermore, ARPU can be used to figure out if the new changes in your offer turned out to be right. For instance, when you introduce a new service for your customers or modify the pricing scheme, ARPU will increase if your clients liked it!

An example of successful VAS introduced in June! ARPU grew, which means that the existing client base pays you more on average.

Lifetime Value

LTV is used to define a total profit from one customer through your entire business relationship with them. In other words, it is an indicator of how much money a single client brings to your company on average. It is very often applied to calculate the profitability of marketing campaigns by comparing it to Customer Acquisition Costs (CAC). Obviously, you need to get more money from a user than it costs you to acquire them. It is not just a metric, it also gives a business owner the general impression about the quality of their services – the longer your clients stay and the more money they spend, the better your service quality!

An example of decline in customer loyalty for the company. As you can see on the trendline (the grey line), the value slowly decreases. This company needs to find the reason behind it, and then, perhaps consider extra discounts for existing clients?

Churn – Three reports on how your business is losing

“Churn” is an ominous word that makes every owner of a subscription-based business shake in their boots. Putting it simply, the higher the churn, the more revenue you lose from the already acquired client base. There are, however, three churn reports that you can monitor to gain the full view:

Subscription Churn – it doesn’t necessarily translate into the loss of a customer, as they can still have other active subscriptions with you,

Revenue Churn – it is the value of all lost subscriptions and downgrades,

Customer Churn – it means that a cancelled customer has no more active subscriptions.

If your customers have multiple services, the Customer Churn will be slightly different and smaller than the Subscription Churn. In the above example, you can notice the huge churn increase in May. It was probably due to some major network problems with the hosting services.

The Revenue Churn may also have a different shape than the Customer/Subscription Churn, because, typically, pricing of services varies. In addition, the Revenue Churn includes downgrades that are not considered by the Subscription Churn report.

Where can I learn more? Where can I get these reports for my company?

If you would like to have a tool that allows you to browse all discussed reports or if you’re simply interested in these topics, I strongly suggest that you subscribe to the MetricsCube Newsletter. I will be providing much more detailed materials about them on the MetricsCube Blog, starting on July, and everyone subscribed will be up to date with new publications.
